Positive air pressure happens when the inside pressure is greater than the outside pressure. This keeps the outside air out. That’s why you feel a rush of cold air when you open the doors of a building. Positive air pressure is beneficial as it prevents high humidity which is the main causes for mold, mildew and property damage although it’s not always applicable in all situations. You need the pressure sensors to detect and control the positive pressure.
Points to note about Negative air pressure
Negative air pressure on the other hand occurs when the outside pressure is greater than the inside pressure allowing air to enter the building. This creates a vacuum that sucks in air containing harmful dust particles and allergens which can be harmful to occupants in the building. In this situation, high levels of humidity can leak into a building causing discomfort as well. A good example of negative air pressure is a door that is difficult to pull open whereas positive air pressure does the opposite.

It can also be used in hospitals to contain dangerous viruses, pathogens and contaminants for research, quarantine and treatment.

As we had said earlier, pressure sensors measure air pressure. They do so by measuring the electric charge and displaying the results. HVAC systems are designed primarily for air ventilation and a pressure sensor is just one of many components used to make these systems more efficiently. Pressure systems measure the air flow and pressure throughout the system for proper air distribution.
